SMAS Face Lift in Mexico
SMAS Face Lift
An SMAS face lift lifts and re-drapes the superficial musculo-aponeurotic system (SMAS) — the strong layer beneath the skin that carries the facial muscles. By repositioning this deep layer rather than pulling on the skin, it rejuvenates the jowls, jawline and lower cheeks while keeping tension off the skin, which is what avoids a tight, ‘pulled’ look.
Who is a good candidate?
Adults with jowls, mid- and lower-face sagging and early neck laxity, in good general health and non-smokers, with realistic expectations. It suits patients who want a natural, long-lasting rejuvenation of the lower two-thirds of the face.
Expected results
A cleaner jawline, softened jowls and a refreshed lower face — natural, not ‘operated’. The result settles at 2 to 3 months and typically lasts around ten years.
How the Surgery is Done
The SMAS face lift is performed under general anaesthesia or deep sedation with a certified anesthesiologist.
Step 1 — access
Fine incisions are made around the ear, extending into the hairline, giving access to the SMAS while keeping scars discreet.
Step 2 — the SMAS lift
The SMAS layer is tightened and repositioned (plicated or partially removed) to lift the jowls and restore the jawline — the tissue that does the real work.
Step 3 — skin re-draping & closure
The skin is re-draped without tension, any excess is trimmed, and the incisions are closed with fine sutures.
Incisions & Scars
Incisions follow the natural creases in front of and behind the ear and blend into the hairline. Because the SMAS carries the tension, the skin heals under little stress and the scars fade to fine, well-hidden lines.
